Real Estate and Real Commitment—in Palm Springs

To local real estate experts Patrick Jordan and Stewart Smith, Palm Springs is much more than just a “market.” They consider the city—and its surrounding communities—a friend. They know the palm springs real estate market well, the qualities that make it unique and the personality of the place that attracts so many people to the Coachella Valley.

“Patrick and I both have a great love of the desert and the incomparable lifestyle found here in the Coachella Valley,” Smith says. “We are passionate about the real estate opportunities here, along with the style of architecture and design found nowhere else. In the two years since we established Patrick Stewart Properties at Windermere Real Estate, we’ve formed a real bond with Palm Springs that can only be described as a great friendship.”

And as their friend, Jordan and Smith sincerely care about the Palm Springs Area. Not simply through their commitment to real estate, but by giving back to the greater community, both as individuals and through their business. One example: For the second year in a row, they raised $11,000 in donations for the Desert AIDS Walk in Palm Springs held on October 27th.

“We are both Partners for Life with the Desert AIDS Project and have raised substantial amounts of money for the cause,” says Jordan. “In 2006, we helped secure a $25,000 grant for the Project from the Elton John AIDS Foundation. And we’re proud of our continuing involvement in the Project’s Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards. When you consider that AIDS has killed 25 million people around the world in the last 25 years—with women, children and people of color the fastest growing segment of AIDS victims—we are compelled to help however we can.”

Giving back, getting involved. For Jordan and Smith, it’s an ongoing commitment. Their active support of charitable organizations also includes donations to the Eisenhower Lucy Curci Cancer Center in Rancho Mirage, the YMCA of Palm Springs and the Boys & Girls Club of Cathedral City.

Good friends. Good attitude.
The caring friendship Jordan and Smith have for Palm Springs is an extension of the long-time friendship they share with each other. As Jordan remembers, ““Stewart and I went to college together and have been friends since the mid-1980s, through bad hair-dos and all. We have also been involved together in many real estate acquisitions and investments, and have been through home makeovers ourselves in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle as well as Palm Springs.”

Jordan comes from a music business background, most recently as the head of operations for DreamWorks Records in Beverly Hills, CA. (His connections in the industry proved instrumental in securing the sizeable grant from the Elton John AIDS Foundation to the Desert AIDS Project.) Smith served as vice president of area sales for Verizon Wireless in the Northwest before teaming with Jordan as business partners in Patrick Stewart Properties.

Together, Jordan and Smith have made a splash in Palm Springs real estate with distinctive advertising, out-of-the-box marketing ideas and, above all, a positive attitude in dealing with every client and transaction.

“Despite what many see as a horrible real estate market, we approach it as a normalizing market, filled with endless opportunities,” Smith comments. “Interest rates are still at historical lows, there is great inventory and the business aspects combined with population growth in the Coachella Valley are incredible.”

In short, they believe in Palm Springs. Just like good friends would.
