PSP-collageAs the summer months wind down, we find ourselves dreaming of the places we’ve missed while trying to escape the heat. In honor of cooler temperatures to come, we thought we’d share our perfect Palm Springs day, complete with outdoor pursuits, al fresco dining, and of course some retail and relaxation therapy; all reasons we love to call this city home!

Eyes Wide Open
As Palm Spring locals, our favorite part of every day (even the hot ones) is waking to the grandeur of the city’s natural surroundings. From the unique desert landscape to the towering San Jacinto Mountains looming in the near distance, even 10 minutes spent in your own backyard can reveal something you have never seen before.

Morning Adventure
Welcome the day with a slightly challenging, but rewarding hike on Tahquitz Canyon Trail, a two-mile loop trail that leads to Tahquitz Falls and back. Native American legend says that it is home to Tahquitz, the guardian spirit of all shamans who used his power for selfish reasons and was banished by the Cahuilla people.

Light breakfast (and a caffeine fix)
Founders John Abner and John Strohm wanted to create a coffee destination as unique as its community when they opened Koffi in 2002. They achieved this goal by treating every customer as a friend and making some of the best (and freshest) coffee and pastries around. Today, there are two Palm Springs locations and it has become a favorite of locals and visitors alike.

Shopping
Palm Springs is known for its blend of old and new, and the shopping experience here is a prime example. Experience the juxtaposition for yourself by visiting Palm Canyon Galleria, a quirky galleria boasting 8 antique shops filled with one of a kind 20th-century home furnishings, artwork & wares. From there, you can head to Wil Stiles, a truly unique collection of fashion, art, and accessories for men and women, inspired by the legendary Racquet Club and the desert life of leisure. You will also find Trina Turk’s flagship boutique, which has reinvigorated retail in the northern end of Palm Canyon Drive. The luxuriously spacious store encompasses all of Trina Turk’s iconic collections under one roof.

Midday Nosh
It’s time to eat again and there is no better place to take in sweeping views of the valley than Escena Lounge & Grill. Enjoy a retro vibe, interesting design and tasty menu, while seated on the expansive patio.

Relax a little
Walk through the doors at Palm Springs Yacht Club (PSYC) at The Parker Palm Springs and you will be greeted by its friendly staff and a shot of cucumber infused vodka. Accept it or not, it will set the tone for your afternoon spa treatment where you can choose from nautical themed packages such as the Yachtman’s Voyage or Lost at Sea, build your own music playlist and read your favorite magazines from the iPads available to guests.

Pre dinner cocktails and sunset dining
Located the 1940’s former Cary Grant guesthouse, Copley’s Restaurant is a casual yet sophisticated restaurant offering a friendly indoor and outdoor unique dining experience. The menu offers contemporary American dishes and has consistently been rated among the top restaurants in the valley by Zagat’s and New York Times. Not only noted for it’s inspiring food, Copley’s takes pride in creating a welcoming atmosphere where each guest feels like part of the family.
